Oak Mountain State Park #6

Camping is so much fun with friends!  We decided to do a local trip during the kid's Fall Break since Donald didn't have off and this is the weekend that OMSP does their fall festival.  So we packed up and checked in Thursday evening and Donald headed to work early Friday morning- but his requirement was a work selfie in front of the camper!

Thursday morning most of the Kennedy crew came to hang out- we played around the campground, then went to the petting barn then to see the birds of prey and the trail.  It was all fun and games until the 3-4ft snake crossed our paths!  Me and Christina were sharing pictures with our phones and Avery yelled snake, Christina and I turned and ran!  But snapped out of it and took care of everyone- turns out it was a rat snake.  Meaning non-venomous!

After the Kennedy's headed out, our neighbors, the Spinas came and joined us.  It was warm enough for the kids to swim so we went to the campground beach and the kids had a blast together.  We thought we had ruined the older generation reunion that was going on but they came up to us afterwards and said they were so impressed with how well our kids behaved.  We will consider that a win- especially since Raquel and I had just been talking about the challenges of motherhood!

The night closed with an awesome visit with the Telfairs.  The kids haven't stopped talking about how much fun they had with Liam and Hudson... and of course we had the best time with Meredith and Ben.  So thankful for this couple!

Saturday morning we headed to the festival, at this point the temperature dropped and it actually felt like fall. Finally!!!  We met the Burells and Menards from our growth group and we all had the best time.  Afterwards we headed back for some football and campground hangout with just our five.  We NEEDED this successful trip... it took us about two weeks to recover from the driving and craziness to Mammoth Cave.  We are so thankful for our State Park and that it's basically in our backyard.

OH!!!  This was Rafa's first camping trip!  He did great!  It did take him a little getting used to it all but we will take him again.  I think I enjoyed him the most!!!
